Travel protection

For advice contact reception and ask for a travel form. This form must be completed and returned to the surgery before you see our practice nurse.

A vaccination programme may need to start several months before your holiday so please contact the surgery as soon as you know your travel plans.

If you require travel vaccinations at short notice will we try our best to help, but if our travel appointments are booked up, you can contact the MASTA travel clinic in Newcastle on 0191 230 3721.

Immunisation against Hepatitis A, Cholera, Typhoid, Polio, Hepatitis B and Rabies may be necessary depending on the country that you visit. Protection may also be required against malaria. There is a charge for the cost of Rabies and some other rarer vaccines as these are not provided by the NHS. A private administration charge is also payable where travel vaccines are not provided by the NHS. Malaria tablets are only available on private prescription.

Please note that because vaccines must be ordered as required for specific travel needs we do ask that the cost of non NHS vaccine is paid at the time of arranging the vaccination programme with the practice nurse.

For more information and details please ask at reception.
