Appointments
Appointments System
Many people like to see the same doctor for continuity and we aim to provide this service as we believe it provides the best care for our patients.
We will try the best we can to ensure that you see the doctor of choice, but as some doctors work part-time, please book ahead if possible. You can always see any doctor at the practice for urgent matters.
Appointments can be booked in person, over the telephone or online via the link at the top of this page. To register for our online services please contact reception for a username and password, we will post this to your home address. If you wish to collect the details from reception, please bring some photographic identification for security.
Telephone Consultations
In some circumstances you may feel it is appropriate or necessary to speak to the doctor for advice or review of your medical problem. Please ring the surgery and our reception staff will book a telephone consultation for you.
For general medical advice or concerns about a problem you can call NHS 111.
Practice Nurses
In a number of cases it might be worth considering an appointment with a practice nurse rather than a doctor. Practice nurses are qualified to deal with many conditions.

Cancellations & Reminders
Cancel an Appointment
It is important that you inform the reception staff if you are unable to attend your appointment, this will allow that appointment to be offered to another patient. If you fail to notify the Practice that you are unable to attend, you will be sent a letter informing you that you have defaulted from your appointment. Persistent defaulters maybe removed from the list.
You can also complete our appointment cancellation notification request form. This can only be used if your appointment has been arranged for more than 24 hours in advance. (excluding weekends and public holidays). You can also text to cancel your appointment.
Late For Your Appointment
Please attend your appointment on time, if you are late you may not be seen. If you are not seen you will not be able to rearrange your appointment until the next working day-except in the event of an medical emergency that requires immediate attention.
Interpreter
If you require an interpreter to attend with you when you see your Doctor please notify the receptionist and she will arrange this for you.
Home Visits
Whilst we encourage our patients to come to the surgery, where we have the proper equipment and facilities available, we do appreciate this is not always possible. In this respect, if you do need a home visit, you can help us by calling reception before 10:00.
You may only request a home visit if you are housebound or are too ill to visit the practice. Your GP will only visit you at home if they think that your medical condition requires it and will also decide how urgently a visit is needed. Please bear this in mind and be prepared to provide suitable details to enable the doctor to schedule house calls
You can also be visited at home by a community nurse if you are referred by your GP. You should also be visited at home by a health visitor if you have recently had a baby or if you are newly registered with a GP and have a child under five years.
Teaching & Training
Our Practice is approved by the University of Newcastle upon Tyne as a Training Practice. Fully qualified hospital doctors who have decided to specialise in General Practice join us for a period of 6 to 12 months as part of their further training and will assist the partners within the practice. We regard their special skills and expertise as valuable assets to the practice. As a training practice the medical records of our patients may be used for teaching and may also be examined by external assessors. All patients have the right to withhold their records if they so wish. If you do not wish your records to be used please let us know.
You also have a right to decide if you wish to be involved in any training in the practice, e.g. have students in attendance during your consultations, or having a video taken of your consultation that will later be used for training purposes. If you do not wish to be involved please tell us - we don’t mind. You will, in any event, be requested to sign a form to say that you are/are not prepared to take part in any such activities at the time. All recordings are strictly confidential.

We have a texting service which allows you to receive confirmation and reminders about your appointments.
To have this service you will need to register by completing a consent form.
